As you have already booked to go to Crete , your best bet for a lively time is to head for one of the larger resorts like Hersonissos or Agios Nikolaos where I'm sure you'll find what you're after. Btw, I had a solo trip to Rhodes near the old town a few years ago and loved it. The only downside to that trip was that the local beaches were pretty mediocre and like to be closer to a really lovely beach this time. Have a look at Rethymnon which is a nice town with a lovely atmospheric old town area that is great to explore and a decent beach running east from the town for miles.

Above all be adventurous. With 3, square miles of island to play around in there is room for adventure, and if all you want to do is the 3 B's for two weeks then Mykonos is probably better for you but remember to take plenty of cash.
